The registration deadline for the May/June 2019 examination series is now just over two weeks away – Thursday 14th February. If you are planning on taking your examinations at our centre and have not yet registered please contact us ASAP to request an entry form. The form takes no longer than 10 minutes to complete and can be returned via post, email or fax (yes that’s right, we do still have a fax machine). You can pay via debit card, credit card (including American Express), PayPal, bank transfer, cheque or cash (if registering in person). All payments can be paid via interest-free installments this involves an initial deposit followed by regular monthly payments prior to your examinations. To take full advantage of paying via installments we strongly recommend registering by the end of January, so that we can split the total amount payable over a greater number of months – please contact us for a personalized plan.
Students taking examinations at our centre this coming summer that require the use of a scribe, reader, word processor and / or private room are recommended to contact us immediately to clarify whether we still have space to available to accommodate these access arrangements; as we only have a finite number of rooms and for many subjects these have already been allocated.
January examination seriesThe January examination series has now finished. Well done to all students that have just completed their Edexcel IGCSE examinations. All students will receive their results via email by 10.00 am on Thursday 7th March. Results will be supplied in the form of a Statement of Results, which will be attached to the email. Whilst this is not a formal certificate, it is the standard format for all results in the UK and will be accepted as such by colleges, universities, and employers. Students that are unhappy or concerned with their results can contact us on an applicable day, either via phone or email; staff will be on hand from 8.30 to 4.30 to advise on all the post-results services options that are available. Students that require a re-take, will have the opportunity to do so in May/June, the entry deadline for this is Thursday 14th March.
Functional Skills MathsOnscreen Functional Skills Maths tests continue to be available throughout the year and we plan on offering them on Saturday and Sunday mornings very soon – watch this space! The level 2 test can be taken by GCSE Maths students in the lead up to their examinations, as a way to secure a recognized qualification in the unfortunate event that they do not achieve a grade 4 for the GCSE.
Mock ExaminationsMock examinations will be available throughout March and April to help students gauge their progress and tailor their remaining studies. They also provide valuable experience for young students that have never previously taken examinations – getting a feel for the exam room and working under timed conditions. We will also be running dedicated mock examinations on Saturdays mornings – further details, including dates, will be announced in our next blog.
TutorsDue to an explosion of requests for one-to-one tuition since the start of the new year, we are looking to recruit additional tutors. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about explaining their subject and good at communicating their knowledge. Tutors can choose to support students either face-to-face within the Bristol region and/or online nationally, as preferred. Tutors indicate which subjects and levels they wish to support (usually their degree specialism or related subjects) and take on students that match their availability. As such tutoring is great for fitting around other commitments. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for further information or to submit a CV for consideration.
Finally, we have now printed all our A-Level Biology, Chemistry and Physics lab books, and have begun the process of posting these to students registered for the practical endorsements – if you are registered with us, you will receive yours any day now!
