We are delighted to announce that we can now offer our Pearson Edexcel IGCSE students a choice between taking a linear or modular assessment route to achieve their qualification. We are excited to be able to add this flexibility to our exam services.

Find out more below to discover whether a modular IGCSE is right for you.

How does a modular course work?

The modular route breaks the assessment into units so students can take an exam at the end of each unit of study, when they are ready. This helps to spread the exam pressure, which may work better for some students.

Regardless of which route (linear or modular) students choose, the exams take the same amount of time and everyone has the same chance of success.

For the modular route all units are treated separately and can be taken in either the May/June or November exam series. Students can re-sit individual unit assessments in any series. This means students have the opportunity to improve their performance and get the grades they need to progress.

Who would benefit from the modular approach?

Students who suffer from high exam anxiety or struggle with the amount of learning required to take end of course exams would benefit from this approach. Exams can be taken throughout the year and the option to retake modules if results are not as expected, can ease the pressure on students.
