Were you due to take your exams this Summer? If you are one of the students who had their exams cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic you will no doubt be anxious about your results.

With A level and GCSE grades about to be released there are signs that many students will be unhappy with their results. The assessment grades submitted by all schools and colleges have been standardised and there is evidence to suggest that a high proportion of grades will be adjusted down.

This is a tough situation for students who were due to take exams this Summer. Through no fault of your own you may not get the grades you need to move on with your education or career plans.

So, what can you do if you are disappointed with your results?

Contact your prospective university or college

Firstly, try not to panic! Although, we realise this is easier said than done! If your grades do not meet the entry requirements for your chosen institution the first thing to do is to contact them.

These are unprecedented times for higher education establishments and many acknowledge the issues with the assessed exam results. This means universities and sixth form colleges are more willing to make exceptions or adjust their offers in response to this unique situation. Try this avenue first before making any decisions about retakes.

Retake your exams

If, after contacting your chosen university or college you find your grades are not enough to secure your place, retakes are an option. Retakes are also an opportunity for students who are unhappy with their assessed grades to take their exams in the usual way. This will hopefully allow you to achieve better results and help you to move forward with your plans for the future.

There is the opportunity to retake A Levels in October and GCSEs in November. You can retake your exams at our Centre regardless of whether your assessment grades were submitted by us or by your school or college. We can help any student who wants to retake their GCSEs and A-Levels, offering a range of retake options for you.
