Prospective Candidates

Prospective Candidates

We support private candidates of all ages and abilities, from across the UK and overseas. This includes (but is not limited to) home-educated candidates, mature / adult candidates, distance learning candidates, candidates with special needs, candidates requiring re-takes and school / college based candidates, as detailed below.

Home Educated Candidates

We support hundreds of home-educated students each year from across the UK and overseas.

Our services are ideally suited to home-educators who wish to receive tailored support in one or more subjects (for example through one-to-one tuition) followed by examinations, or indeed home-educators just needing a centre to sit examinations through.

Our friendly centre staff are on hand at all times to offer full advice and guidance relating to all aspects of the exam entry procedure to ensure that the process remains as straightforward as possible.

Mature / Adult Candidates

We provide examinations for hundreds of mature / adult students each year, in particular those looking to secure qualifications to enhance future employment / education prospects.

Our services are ideal for students wishing to prepare for examinations whilst in full / part-time employment, as our tutorial and support services are optional, so students can choose to register just for examinations and then simply attend on the appropriate days.

Our services are also particularly popular with PGCE and GTP applicants who require a certain grade in English, Maths and / or Science, or those who have lost their old certificates and need to show their proficiency in a certain subject.

Distance Learning Candidates

Students that are following a distance learning course can register at our centre for their written examinations, oral examinations, practical skills assessment and / or coursework assessment.

Registering with us means that distance learning students can concentrate on their course, attending only on the appropriate exam / assessment dates and sending coursework to us by the appropriate submission date.

Candidates with Special Needs

We provide examinations for students with special educational and other needs including dyslexia, dyspraxia and other learning difficulties or disorders. We also support candidates with long-term illnesses.

We can assist with all aspects of the entry procedure, including advice and guidance regarding the provision of any external assessment that is required as part of any application for Access Arrangements we submit to JCQ, the board or other body.

Where approved we can provide Access Arrangements for candidates, e.g. additional examination time (typically +25%), the use of a scribe or reader or a computer etc and/or access to a private examination room.

Note: The granting of Access Arrangements and/or other special arrangements is subject to formal approval by JCQ and the Head of Centre.

Wheelchair access is available at the centre.

Candidates Requiring Re-Takes

Students that did not achieve the required grade/s at school or college can re-take their examinations at our centre. GCSE, IGCSE and A-Level re-takes are available.

School and College Based Candidates

Students who require examination entry to subjects or levels not currently supported by their school or college, or students who have been excluded from school, can sit their examinations with us.
